This component will be guided by climate scientists and decision support specialists from NOAA and NASA working with similar folks from USGS and others associated with the Great Northern LCC. The team will work one-on-one with federal, state, and tribal scientists and managers, as well as hold training workshops across the region. The primary focus of the team will be working with field scientists from all disciplines and resource managers to apply data, model results, decision support tools, and other methodologies to specific resource management issues. The team lead will function as our regional climate extension specialist who will be versed in basic and applied research, and decision support. Assisting this specialist will be a diverse array of climate scientists from the federal, state and DOI sector, as well as support staff such as student interns and a programmer. These researchers and resource managers will also utilize scientific knowledge and climate science research products from across the federal and academic sectors and make it available to resource managers. We will directly involve great existing enterprises such as NOAA's NCDC and RISA programs and NASA's Distributed Active Archive Centers and Ecocast team, among others.
