Brucella melitensis is an important zoonosis disease that can spread from animals to humans in several southern European countries. In Spain, brucellosis is prevalent and has some of the highest incidences in rural communities of Europe. In these regions, cattle, sheep, goats and wild ruminants often graze in the same places for most of the year. We are currently analyzing data from red deer in the Boumort National Game Reserve as well as cattle, sheep and goats from seven neighbouring communities.
