Elk Movements and Snowpack - Dell Creek

Elk movement from feedgrounds to summer range in relation to snowpack. The animation shows the movement of 4 elk from their supplemental feedground to their summer ranges and associated SNODAS data. SNODAS is a modeling and data assimilation system developed by NOAA National Weather Service's National Operational (NOHRSC) to provide the best possible estimates of snow cover, snow depth, and snow-water equivalent. In the figure above we are using snow-water equivalents (mm). Each frame represents a 24 hour period and each dot an elk location (one every 30 minutes).
