Expertise:

  • Hydrology
  • Weather stations and data loggers
  • Snow surveys
  • Flow hydraulics
  • Water Quality

  • Research interests:
Research interests include performing hydrologic and biophysical assessments to determine ecosystem dynamics and working to understand how that applies to a changing climate. Current involvement includes glacier monitoring, snow pack analysis, repeat photography, and GLORIA. Past experience consists of collecting and analyzing flow hydraulic data on the Middle and North Forks of the Flathead and remote rivers in Alaska, installing and maintaining stream gauges and weather stations, collecting primary productivity and water quality samples from Flathead Lake and tributaries, performing other water quality studies, conducting snow surveys, and classifying and mapping streams in Alaska as part of timber harvest design. My passion for the outdoors, enthusiasm towards scientific research, and love of Montana, allow me to make my avocation my vocation. My goal is to better understand our changing environment at an ecosystem level, and divulge our research findings to the general public as well as decision-makers of local and regional policies.

    Current Research Projects:

  • Facilitating the Global Observation Research Initiative in the Alpine (GLORIA) resurvey project and performing trend analysis.
  • Applying QA/QC procedures and climate analysis to a 16 year record of mid to high elevation weather data in GNP.
  • Compiling historic climate data with future scenarios to input into an agricultural model that will help farmers plan for climate change.
  • Conducting snow surveys across GNP to calculate snow water equivalents at various locations and elevations.
